The socio-economic crisis that Europe is facing, has made the labor market is being severely hit and unemployment rates are
increasing thus negatively affecting the EU’s potential growth.
In this situation, the aim is for Europe to become a smart, sustainable and inclusive economy. Inclusive means, among others, raising
Europe’s employment rates and helping people with fewer opportunities of all ages, manage change through investment in skills
Unemployment is particularly high among women and young people and this situation is exacerbated among disabled women who
face a double discrimination: as women and as disabled people. In addition, these women are more vulnerable because of issues
related to health-work balance, limited availability for training and access to resources, accesibility barriers, mental or psychological
problems among others.
Through the project, to offer new opportunities and innovative instruments to physical and sensory disabled women for improving
their qualifications and thus their levels of employability .Thanks to an European cooperation established by an appropriate mix of
complementary organisations coming from different fields but sharing characteristics and objectives, this instrument will introduce
new methodologies and tools to make easier the training access, assessment and development of competences and their
transference to the labour context.
So, the general objective of READY WOMEN project is to offer new opportunities and innovative instruments to adult women with
disabilities for improving their qualifications and thus their levels of employability and integration into the labour market, mainly
through training actions related to the New Yields of Employment (NYE) and emerging sectors.
READY WOMEN project, implemented through a partnership that includes 10 organizations from 7 countries, will allow reaching the
*Increase the self-confidence of women with physical disabilities in an individual and collective way.
*Identify the existing relations between women with physical disabilities and employment opportunities and the NYE and the
emerging sectors in each of the European regions covered by the project, recognizing the specific sectors with the greatest potential
for being developed by physical disabled women after covering training needs of these women in each of them.
*Detect the best practices in employment inclusion of women with physical disabilities related with NYE and the emerging sectors in
each of the regions involved.
*Emphasize the importance of training and improve physical disabled women’ skills keeping in mind that this must be a process of
empowerment that will allow women to get the abilities to access to employment, and to take advantage from the ICTs.
*Create a virtual collaborative network of women with physical disabilities from EU’s partners areas dealing with NYE and emerging
sectors, with the aim of fostering the networking, the exchange of experiences and expertise, not only among these women direct
beneficiaries of Ready women Project, but also between them and other women with physical disabilities already established in the
*Implement a training course aimed to develop basic & professional competences and soft skills for women with physical disabilities.
*Disseminate results, training and tools created at a transnational level.
The project will contribute to the Europe 2020 Strategy and targets regarding the role of education and training in social inclusion,
empowering people and ensuring that citizens, in particular, adults disabled women with low levels of education, unemployed
disabled women, and those who have left school early, can access lifelong learning and up-skilling throughout their lives and to
improve their levels of employability and social skills.
